Beware Of Self-Righteousness!
Dictionary dot com defines self-righteousness: confident of one's own righteousness, especially when smugly moralistic and intolerant of the opinions and behavior of others.
You might say, "So what's that got to do with my situation? I'm already feeling like a complete loser; I'm already down on myself! Now you're bringing up self-righteousness?"
Ask yourself the following questions:
Why do you feel like a loser? Do you look at other people who are doing poorly by society's standards and call them losers too? Do you find yourself often looking at other peoples' success to see how you measure up? And finally, what motivates you, is it winning?
Jesus Said
If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me. For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will save it. For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and is himself destroyed or lost?
Luke 9: 23-25
I Don't Care What Jesus Said!
While that might be true, you're calling yourself a loser and measuring yourself to a mere human standard, not God's standard, that you can't even keep. And because you've failed now, you're living with the weight of that hopelessness and despair.
Jesus didn't come to condemn you friend, He died to save you! Think about it, the best your life can offer you in the end is death. Sin is death and unless you trust in the perfect work of Jesus Christ to save you, then you live with the weight of your sin (death) on your shoulders.
The world says you're just a chance formation of a bunch of chemicals that have evolved into a meaningless mass of life, hurling by coincidence through the universe... and no one really cares. The lie of the world would have you believe that in order to survive you have to be the strongest and most fit among the evolved animals.
God leaves nothing to chance. Your life is not some chance evolutionary event. You were created by God, for God, to worship Him. In Christ Jesus you can be set free!
