So You Know The Truth?
You know truth too. You've acknowledged absolute truth at times in your life; probably many times. For instance, you know it's wrong to lie when someone has lied to you. You know it's wrong to steal when you've had something you care about taken from you against your will. You know it's wrong to lust after people when you've had someone you love betray you by doing that very thing.
But when's the last time you looked at your own sin? When's the last time you weren't interested in comparing yourself to how much better you are than the people around you? When was the last time you actually, truthfully, stepped into the light of the absolute truth of God's law to see how you measure up?
I'm Better Than A Lot Of People I Know.
God's not interested in how much better you think you are compared to other people. God is in all things holy, holy, holy; He is 100% pure. That means 100% good, 100% true, 100% right, 100% wise, 100% just. Are you? Can you make such a claim?
- How many lies have you told in your life? Can you count them? (No I Can't)
- Have you ever stolen anything? No? What about downloading movies or music that you didn't purchase? Or not telling the clerk or waitress that they mistakenly undercharged you? (Okay You Got Me)
- How many times have you lusted after someone with your eyes? (There Isn't A Number Big Enough)
- Lastly, how many times in your life have you felt hatred for someone? (Too Many Times)

I Don't Believe In A God Like That!
And you may not believe in the law of gravity either. But if you jump from the edge of a 10,000 foot ravine without a parachute, regardless of your opinion, you will find yourself subject to that law in a way that will bring about your immediate and absolute destruction.
If you live your life thinking that you're good enough to get to heaven (if there even is one), and die only to face Judgment alone, you will be subject to the horrific consequences of breaking God's law; Jesus called it the second death, or hell. This should concern you gravely. If what Jesus said is true, then to face God's Judgment on your own merit when you die would be eternally devastating; irreversibly devastating.
