There's Grace For You
The grace of Jesus Christ is the kind of gift no one can ever do anything to earn. A person cannot be good enough, smart enough, rich enough, strong enough, popular enough, or have enough of any one human quality to earn the free gift of Jesus Christ's forgiveness of sins.
No matter what drove you to your breaking point friend, whatever shameful thing you have done or are currently doing, Jesus Christ died for your sins already. Think about that... really think about it. Jesus Christ has already paid the penalty for your sins. The shame you carry that's crushing you, Jesus has already dealt with it.
Even if you are a broken down murderer, rapist, prostitute, thief, drunk, homosexual, fornicator, blasphemer, gossip, conman, good for nothing misfit, you need to know that the grace that God gave in the blood that fell from Jesus Christ, is unlimited; and it fell for you. Jesus didn't die so that you could get really good and show God how much you deserve His forgiveness. He died to pay for your sins once and for all.
Why Would God Do That For Me?
God is good and His love is perfect. His love for you was never dependent on you. His love for you is pure. His love for you is beyond your ability to comprehend. His love for you is awaiting you. He is calling His lost children home. When you come home, because of Jesus Christ, there is no record of your wrongs. You are forgiven, you are set free! No matter what person might try to accuse you, Jesus Christ is your advocate!
When the religious big shots of Jesus' day, the Pharisees, caught a woman engaged in adultery, they brought her before Jesus to see if He would keep the law and have her stoned to death. They knew the law by letter but not by Spirit. So Jesus took His time to answer them, and He bent over and drew in the sand with His finger. Then He told them that whoever was without sin should be the first one to cast a stone.
On Jesus' words the Pharisees shrunk and fled the scene, one by one. Jesus then turned to the woman and asked her where had all her accusers gone, and whether or not they condemned her. She said they hadn't condemned her, to which Jesus replied, "Neither do I condemn you; go and sin no more".
But I Know I'll Probably Sin Again
God knows that friend. Your salvation isn't a matter of your goodness, it is a matter of God's grace. You see, when the adulteress was caught in the act of adultery she was guilty of sinning. Jesus' forgiveness didn't depend on her innocence; it didn't depend on her at all.
Jesus forgave her from her sins while she was a sinner. Jesus extended grace to a woman who, in that culture and time, would have been looked at as filthy; deserving of death. But Jesus is the Advocate for the broken and accused.
Notice that Jesus didn't tell the woman to keep sinning. Instead he told her to stop sinning. But His forgiveness wasn't dependent on her being good, He had forgiven her as a sinner. God forgives us without our merit, through the blood of Jesus Christ.
Are you a believer in the only Advocate you really have? Don't keep looking for the answer in a bottle, some kind of dirty act, or in a great big pile of money. Call out to Jesus Christ and place your faith in Him alone to provide you what you're really looking for... forgiveness.
